Supporting Women in Construction

This Women in Construction Week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the progress made in the industry and, more importantly, how we can do more to encourage and support women to pursue careers in construction.

At Llanw, we recognise that construction has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, but we are committed to breaking down barriers and creating a workplace where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. A more diverse workforce brings fresh perspectives, innovation, and skills that benefit not just our business but the wider sector.

To drive real change, we’ve started asking our own colleagues:

  1. What does female empowerment mean to you?
  2. How can we make Llanw a more inclusive place for women?
  3. What more can we do to support women in construction?

We know that inclusivity isn’t just about what happens inside our organisation—it extends to our partners and suppliers too. That’s why we’re also looking at how we can work together to make the industry more accessible, such as ensuring that appropriate female workwear is available and understanding what inclusive practices our partners have in place.

Encouraging More Women into Construction

We’re also thinking about the future. With apprenticeship opportunities opening soon, we’d love to see more women apply. But we also know that recruitment in this sector needs to evolve. How can we make these roles more attractive to women? How do we ensure that career pathways into construction are visible and accessible?

We Want to Hear From You

This isn’t just about what Llanw is doing—it’s about making meaningful changes across the industry. That’s why we want to hear from you. Do you have ideas on how we can make construction a more inclusive and welcoming space for women? Are there changes you’d like to see in recruitment, workplace culture, or industry partnerships?
